Live NASA FIRMS fire detections
Where are the wildfires burning right now?
A live North America view of the fires that can put smoke on the move.

Fire detections across the continent
Each ochre point is a real FIRMS detection. Clusters show where the current feed is most active; they do not predict smoke direction.

Fire proximity is not an air-quality reading. Open a city to see the measured air and the cleaner places within a drive.

What the map can’t tell you
Three useful limits
Where are the fires in Canada?
The Canadian detections are plotted here from the same North America FIRMS feed. Use the timestamp, then open the nearest city’s live reading: fire location and breathing-level smoke are related, but not interchangeable.
Is the smoke coming to the US?
Sometimes, but the map alone cannot answer that. Wind and plume height decide where smoke travels. Check your live air and the forecast before changing outdoor plans.
How current is the map?
The collector runs hourly and the page displays the last completed collection. Satellite detections are a signal that fire is present, not a promise about what your monitor will read.
